That looks awesome, how much did you spend on this mill machine? Anything you are planning to do related to build micromouse parts? Sorry I can't 100% understand what you were saying in the article with the help of google translate :)
It cost approximately 130,000 JPY. Some micromouse parts? I have no plan. First I want to examine what kind of parts I can make with this machine. Then, I will plan a next new mouse.
(I also tried to read google-translated version of this page, but I couldn't understand those sentences...)
I've heard people in Taiwan use it to mill acrylic full size mouse motor mount, it might work on half size as well.
Hi Mr Kojima
I just have a question recently. Since the CNC you have doesn't have any feature to help secure the object material on the milling platform easily, how did you do it? So far I only saw people use hot glue to glue the material on the side. Do you have any better idea?
I fix an object material on the milling platform with double-side tape. The manufacturer of the CNC explains the method in its webpage. When the object is POM, double-side tape is very useful and enough.
Double sided tape! That's interesting! Isn't the tap strong enough? Have you ever tried use hot glue to seal the side instead? How did you deal aluminum? Is this kinda of mini mill has a spindle strong enough to mill aluminum with sufficient accuracy?
I haven't tried hot glue. I have little experience with aluminum, but double sided tape is enough strong if the surface (the contact area between aluminum and milling platform) is large.
There are many kind of aluminum, A5052, A2017, etc. I think that widely used aluminum such as A5052 can be milled by mini mill, but that it is difficult to mill high-strength aluminum.
I think 6065 Aluminum is the easiest I can get at United States. It looks harder than 5052. Hope it works. Thanks for your help.
